Pure Mongrel Range:

Conventionally made unconventional blends.

Pure Mongrel - L191004

This mongrel blend was put together ad hoc. On the crush pad as fruit came in. The ferment just kept rolling on and on as more fresh fruit and juice were thrown in. It went on for about 8 weeks in total. And has a specimen of just about every parcel of fruit that came in that year ... talk about a vintage wine!

The current release, batch L191004, is a blend of 10 grape varieties, from 5 regions, across 1 vintage. The approximate composition is:

Vintage: 100% 2019

Varieties: 20% Merlot, 16% Pinot Noir, 14% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Gris, 7% Sauvignon Blanc, 4% Pinotage, 4% Petit Verdot, 4% Chambourcin, 2% Albarino, 1% Seibel.

Pure Mongrel - Pink Port - L200503

Inspired by the original Pink Ports of Portugal and the Vin Doux Natures of France. At 18% alcohol, we think this wine is best drunk over ice with 4 parts soda water and a slice of lemon. Very refreshing!!
